Bets on European/French Roulette Wheels
In European and French live dealer roulette, bettors can make wagers exclusively on the roulette wheel.
These are called 'announced' or 'call' bets, which do not incorporate the roulette table whatsoever. With these bets, a croupier might use the following terms: zero game, neighbors of zero, orphans, and thirds of the wheel. It might sound like the croupier is giving you some trash talk, but these terms actually refer to a specific series of numbers for each bet:
These terms were created to help croupiers and bettors avoid any misunderstandings on bets around the roulette wheel and maintain roulette's speedy pace. With announced or call bets, the gambler will give the croupier their chips and tell them which bet they want to make. The croupier will repeat the bet back to the gambler, to avoid any misunderstandings.
